On day 4 of International Science week the pupils conducted a cornflour slime experiment. In doing this the pupils learnt about non-Newtonian liquids and how slime is different from normal liquids. This was certainly a messy but highly enjoyable experiment.
On day 3 of International Science week we conducted a fizzy colours experiment, in which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed making some chemical reactions through the use of white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and food colouring. The pupils learnt what happens when you bring an acid and an alkaline together.
For the second day of International Science week we conducted a rainbow milk experiment. In which the pupils observed how the chemical bonds between the fats, proteins and the rest of the milk were weakened when adding the washing up liquid. On the first day of International Science week we conducted our first experiment of the week which was a paper towel colour mixing experiment. The pupils got to experience first hand the process called capillary action and were amazed to see how the colours travelled through the paper towels and mixed.

All the boys and girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class took part in a collaborative colouring project. They each coloured one or two sections of our Mindfulness Rainbow which we then put together. It certainly brightens up our corridor!
